HOW TO BUTT JOIN SLATS

Butt jointing is possibly the easiest step in building your project.

  • Vertical slats
    • You can use a slat vertically to cover up where you have butt joints.Ie.When the two slats meet on the square post, the vertical slat is to be screwed on front of the joint.

  • Using Cover Clips
    • It is recommended not to join Base & Cover at the same place. Ie. Leave Base longer to support the joint.
    • Overlap the Base & the Cover of your smartslat at different positions to give your slat the length you need. You can support the joint by using the cover clips.
    • This type of installation is ideal for long run fencing, eve boards and close off under raised structures.
